Deanna Haughey began her love of music early in life.
She was classically trained on piano starting at 5, and her vocal training began at age 10.
She continued to train and perform throughout school, being featured in several
"Gilbert and Sullivan" musicals as well as taking part in an all female acapella group
called the "Madri-gals", who performed everything from Broadway tunes to
Handel's Messiah. Deanna's eclectic musical taste and ability have given her a variety of styles to perform by occasionally sitting in with other bands.
A self-taught guitarist and avid songwriter, Deanna has been involved in many
Houston bands. As a vocalist and songwriter, she performed early eighties style
electronic dance music with "Mais-La-Bouche". Having unique tastes in music
she sang back up vocals for a Latin salsa-jazz band, "The Jalapeno's", and has
played keyboards and sang for several original rock and pop acts, including "Attica",
"Pinque", "Ashes", and "Descent Into Madness". For
eight years, her band "Sinister Sirens" performed throughout all of Texas and
released several CDs, playing music ranging from electronic gothic dance, evolving to a more
organic live rock band sound. Not only was Deanna the lead vocalist, songwriter, keyboard
player, and rhythm guitarist … but she also served as band leader, manager, and
booking agent. She then joined "Us And Them", a Pink Floyd tribute
band, with whom she sang backup and supporting vocals, as well as additional
percussion for almost two years. Her other recent projects include " A Kiss In The
Dreamhouse " a tribute to Siouxsie and The Banshees, with Deanna appearing as
"Siouxsie", and " LizDexic ", a rock/party/dance band that covered songs from Black Sabbath, Prince and Sheryl Crow.
Currently Deanna is involved with three band projects, "Judith Priest" a tribute to Judas Priest with Deanna appearing as the "Metal God", Rob Halford. She is also vocalist, keyboardist and acoustic guitarist for "Slither", current, 80’s, and classic rock and "Spitfyre", alternative and classic rock.
Deanna had a special opportunity to perform her original material with the house band at "The House of Blues" in Las Vegas in May 2000. Having recorded a 14 song, solo acoustic CD entitled "The Garden" in 2002, she has played in many clubs and coffee houses throughout Houston and the surrounding areas. Deanna performed live on ABC affiliate KBMT channel 12 "Good Morning Southeast Texas" in July of 2002, and also took the stage with singer/song writer Liz Sowers, at the "Jeff Buckley Tribute/Hall of Fame Induction performance" in Cleveland Ohio in July of 2003. "LizDexic", with a wide variety of rock covers, provided the opportunity to play large festivals including the 2005 and 2006 "Lone Star Rally" and the 2006 "Rice Harvest Festival".
